What we do as the High Fidelity Simulations Committee

The High Fidelity Simulations Committee is dedicated to improving maternal and infant health outcomes through immersive, hands-on clinical education. By designing and delivering realistic, scenario-based simulations, we help healthcare teams across Kentucky refine critical decision-making skills, enhance communication, and prepare for high-stakes obstetric emergencies. Our goal is to bridge the gap between knowledge and practice—ensuring providers are ready when it matters most.

Core Simulation Categories: Preparing Providers for Obstetric Emergencies

These categories represent the key focus areas of our high-fidelity simulation program, each designed to strengthen clinical readiness and improve maternal and infant outcomes across Kentucky.

Hypertensive Emergencies in Pregnancy

This category includes scenarios like eclampsia, where providers learn to recognize and manage life-threatening seizures caused by severe preeclampsia.

Postpartum Hemorrhage

Focused on rapid response to excessive bleeding after childbirth, these simulations train teams to identify causes like uterine atony and apply life-saving interventions.

Maternal Cardiac Emergencies

These high-stakes scenarios prepare teams to respond to rare but critical events such as maternal cardiopulmonary arrest, emphasizing coordinated resuscitation and emergency cesarean delivery.

Maternal Sepsis

These scenarios address the early identification and treatment of maternal infections that can progress to sepsis, emphasizing timely antibiotics, fluid resuscitation, and fetal monitoring.
